Fleisher/Ollman is pleased to announce Four Decades, organized on the occasion of gallerist John Ollman's 40th Anniversary at the gallery. Four Decades features a diverse group of works reflecting the gallery's unique history under Ollman's guidance, including fine examples of ethnographic, folk, self-taught and contemporary art.
Highlights of the exhibition include significant works by Christina Ramberg and William Edmondson, Native American kachina figures, Tramp Art furniture, and examples of American decorative arts. Also included are artists Ollman has championed from discovery stages through recognition by major museums, including James Castle, Martin Ramirez, Felipe Jesus Consalvos, and the unknown wire sculptor Ollman named Philadelphia Wireman.
Select additional artists in the exhibition include: Forrest Bess, Charles Burchfield, James Castle, Joseph Cornell, Arshile Gorky, William Hawkins, Morris Hirshfield, Jess, Elie Nadelman, Jim Nutt, Martin Ramirez, Bill Traylor, P.M. These attributed works will be accompanied by Oceanic sculptures, Pre-Columbian vessels, Chinese scholar stones, Northwest Coast masks, Pennsylvania painted furniture, weather vanes, spool tables and Pennsylvania Dutch Fraktur drawings.
