Featuring work by: The Dufala Brothers
Fleisher/Ollman is pleased to announce F, Steven and Billy Dufala's second solo exhibition with the gallery.
Brothers and artistic collaborators, Steven and Billy Dufala are engaged in a practice that is marked by a fearless embrace of new techniques and commitment to experimentation. Beautifully crafted abstract and representational drawings, paintings, sculptures and installations are often an emotional response to material, process and environment. Consumption, efficiency, cliche, and failure are investigated through humor and exaggeration. On view in this exhibition will be small and large-scale graphite drawings and watercolors that are in dialogue with singular sculptures and a site-specific installation.
Steven and Billy Dufala (b. 1976 and b. 1981) practice in a variety of media, approaching sculpture, theater, performance, music, digital media, and drawing with equal passion and zeal. An exhibition of their work is currently on view at the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art and they have exhibited most recently at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery at Haverford College. In 2010, they received an OBIE Award for their design work on the New York production of Machines Machines Machines Machines Machines Machines Machines and in 2009, were awarded the West Grand Prize, an international juried prize in its inaugural year. Both graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and live and work in Philadelphia. Steven was a founding member of the experimental, performative band, Man Man, in which Billy currently performs.
