Pauline Simon

c. 1890s–1976, b. Russia; lived and worked in Chicago

Pauline Simon immigrated to the U.S. at the age of eighteen, and worked as a theatrical hairdresser until her marriage to a dentist. She began taking painting lessons after her husband’s death, and was given a solo show at the Hyde Park Art Center in 1974. She produced around 65 paintings between 1965 and her death in 1976.
