Mark Mahosky

Lives and works in Pennsylvania

Color, geometry, and scale are crucial to the work of Mark Mahosky. His paintings, done on materials ranging from expansive bolts of burlap to single sheets of newspaper, employ rich linear and cubic patterns rendered in bright, contrasting hues. Mahosky also makes text-based sculptures of cardboard and wire, delicate pieces that, despite their small size, carry monumental impact. Solo exhibitions of Mahosky’s work have been shown in Philadelphia at Fleisher/Ollman Gallery and in New York at Joseph Rickards Gallery. He has also participated in group shows at the Allentown Museum of Art. Mahosky earned his BFA in painting from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University and his MFA, also in painting, from Stanford University. He now works in Pennsylvania and teaches at Kutztown University and Bucknell University.
